The Story Behind Tiny Tribe: Building Bridges in Every Stage of Motherhood
Hey Moncton mamas! π
You know those moments when life seems to perfectly align? That's exactly how Tiny Tribe came to be, and I (Morgan) can't wait to share our behind-the-scenes story with you.
Back in early 2024, I watched a local playgroup I was part of shut its doors. As a mom, I felt that loss deeply. This wasn't just a playgroup - it was a place where real connections happened, where friendships formed that lasted long after the weekly meetups ended. When it closed, it left a void in our community that I couldn't stop thinking about.
As a stay-at-home mom running my photography business, I kept dreaming about creating something new for Moncton moms. But you know what they say about dreams - they're bigger when shared! While I knew what I wanted to create, doing it solo felt overwhelming. I found myself pitching this idea to anyone who'd listen (probably drove some people crazy! π ).
Then came the plot twist! Near the end of 2024, April (who'd heard me talk about this dream) approached me asking if it was still on my radar. Suddenly, this dream had a partner! We dove into planning sessions, brainstorming how we could make these groups happen and really serve our community.
But wait - it gets better! Enter Jade, who literally overheard me chatting about these plans at the gym (proof that good things can happen while working out! πͺ). With her background in childhood education and her own dreams of creating something meaningful, it was like the final puzzle piece falling into place.
What really drove us was seeing the huge need in our community, especially during those early postpartum days. We've all been there - when everything suddenly changes after having a baby. Old friendships don't always survive the transition to motherhood (hello, 3 AM feeds and completely different schedules! π), and sometimes just getting out of the house with a new baby feels like planning an expedition.
That's why we've initially focused on that crucial maternity leave year. It's such a special time - challenging, beautiful, and sometimes a little lonely. We want to help moms build friendships during this period that'll carry them through their entire motherhood journey. Because let's be real - mom friends who get it are worth their weight in gold! β¨
But we didn't stop there. We saw the need stretching in both directions - from expecting mamas looking to build their village before baby arrives, to parents of older kids seeking weekend connections. Our vision? To grow alongside our community, offering support and friendship at every stage of the journey.
Since our first registration day, when 15 amazing moms jumped right in, we've seen just how much Moncton needed this kind of support system. Now, as we continue to grow after our March launch, we're more excited than ever about the community we're building together.
Our mission remains simple but powerful: "Connecting Families, Forging Friendships." Whether you're expecting your first, navigating the newborn days, or chasing a toddler, there's a place for you in our Tiny Tribe.
The past few months have been a whirlwind of behind-the-scenes action (the kind of stuff that keeps you up at night but totally worth it! π ). Between navigating the legal maze of getting registered and insured, to finding the perfect space to call home - we've been busy making sure everything's just right for our Tiny Tribe families.
And now... we're literally hours away from meeting our first classes tomorrow! π All those late-night planning sessions, paperwork marathons, and endless to-do lists are about to turn into real connections and new friendships. We seriously can't wait!
To all our amazing moms who've already signed up and those thinking about joining us - thank you for being part of this journey. This is just the beginning, and we couldn't be more excited to start this adventure with you! π
See you tomorrow, Moncton mamas!
